Julie Tidwell – Principal
I am Julie Tidwell, the current principal at Mt. Pleasant Elementary. I have been serving Maury County students since 1989. I received a B.S. degree in elementary education from Austin Peay State University. I also received an M.Ed in administration/supervision and a library degree from Middle Tennessee State University. I began teaching at Culleoka Unit School, where I taught first through fourth grades and served as the librarian. Since coming to MPES, I have served as a librarian, Title I facilitator, assistant principal, and principal.
I feel so blessed to be able to work at a school with a great faculty and staff that truly loves kids. When we say MPES is the place “where kids come first”, we mean it! The education and success of our students is the number one priority at MPES. I love these little “tiger cubs” and will do whatever is necessary to ensure we equip them to become successful life-long learners. I enjoy spending time with the students and celebrating watching them grow.
When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, reading, going to movies, hanging out with friends, and vacations to the beach.
Please feel free to contact me at school with questions or concerns. Parents and community members are encouraged to visit us and participate in our many family involvement activities.
Laura Sandrell – Assistant Principal
Greetings and welcome to Mt. Pleasant Elementary School Website! I am honored to serve at a school “where kids come first every day.” As assistant principal, I welcome you to our community of learners and hope to get to know you as we work together to strive for our students. Our mission is to provide the educational instruction, tools, and environment for every child to succeed in LIFE as Lifelong Learners, Independent Thinkers, Fearless Innovators, and Exemplary Citizens.
My professional background has provided me with many awesome opportunities. Most of my educational career has been spent as a classroom teacher at Randolph Howell Elementary and here at Mt. Pleasant. Many great years were spent in grades 1-4, and I truly will never forget what those years meant to me and how important the classroom is. Later, I was asked to step into the role of a Title Teacher, and that led to many learning opportunities with intervening and enriching students throughout the entire school. My last two years before becoming Assistant Principal were spent serving as the Academic Facilitator and Title Facilitor. These roles created many meaningful experiences to help raise rigor along with meeting and identifying the needs of many students. It has always been a philosophy of mine that I wanted to be part of a school where every staff member, teacher, and administration believed that EVERYONE learns, and that is exactly what we have at Mt. Pleasant. With that said, I can’t think of a better place that I would rather spend my days than alongside dedicated staff and faculty with the best students that come to school with a smile and ready to learn. Mt. Pleasant is an awesome place to spend your days and is the best-kept secret in Maury County!
When not working at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, I have the blessing of enjoying my three children. They keep my husband and me busy with arts, dance, sports, and playing on our farm. We enjoy many outdoor activities together, like camping in Middle Tennessee’s gorgeous parks, riding our Razors, and spending time at the Tennessee River. These are just a few of our “favorite things” we enjoy together. We are all very grateful to get to live in such a lovely setting as Maury County.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page. Please stop by a visit us, and it is my hope that you and your family will find a school community to be part of that feels like home.
