There’s a story behind every hallway, classroom, and smile. We’re a public school system where students grow, thrive and become their best selves. From robotics to the arts, athletics to the classroom, leadership to life skills—we’re not just preparing students for the future, we’re teaching it! College, career, and beyond—we’re helping students build bright futures. What makes our schools so much more? A community that believes in our mission.

Welcome

Laura Sandrell, Principal Picture

Greetings and Welcome to the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School Website!

I am honored to serve as the Principal of Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, a place “Where ALL Kids Come First Every Day.” It is a privilege to welcome you to our community of learners, and I look forward to partnering with you as we work together to help every student reach their fullest potential.

At Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, our mission is to provide the instruction, tools, and environment necessary for every child to succeed in life as a Lifelong Learner, Independent Thinker, Fearless Innovator, and Exemplary Citizen. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and inspired to achieve.

My educational journey has provided me with many rewarding opportunities. I spent much of my career as a classroom teacher at Randolph Howell Elementary School and here at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, teaching students in grades one through four. Those years in the classroom remain some of the most meaningful of my career and continually remind me of the important work that takes place each day in our schools.

I later served as a Title Teacher, Academic Facilitator, and Title Facilitator, roles that allowed me to support and enrich student learning across all grade levels. From 2016 to 2025, I proudly served as Assistant Principal at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School before stepping into the role of Principal.

Each of these experiences has strengthened my belief that every child can learn and succeed when provided with the right support and opportunities. One of the things I treasure most about Mt. Pleasant Elementary is that our faculty, staff, and administration share that same belief. Together, we are dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the encouragement, instruction, and care needed to thrive.

I cannot imagine a better place to spend my days than alongside our dedicated faculty and staff and the incredible students who arrive each morning ready to learn. Mt. Pleasant Elementary School is truly a special place and one of the best-kept secrets in Maury County.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our three children, and our son-in-law. They keep us busy with sports, arts, and activities on our family farm. We also enjoy camping in Tennessee’s beautiful parks, riding our Razors, and spending time at the Tennessee River.

Thank you for visiting our website. It is my hope that you and your family will find our school community welcoming and that Mt. Pleasant Elementary feels like home. If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
